RMBI Student Volunteered at Cambodia - A Trip of Learning and Serving

Synix Sun, a Year 3 student majoring in Risk Management and Business Intelligence Program, visited Cambodia twice via HKUST Connect service trips: first as a participant in January last year, then as an organizing committee member in June. Serving the people in need is what she simply wants to do.

IPO Students @ Boao Forum for Asia 2015

Three IPO students were nominated to join 14 other HKUST schoolmates to volunteer at the Boao Forum for Asia 2015 “Asia’s New Future – Towards a Community of Common Destiny” at Hainan, China on 26-29 March 2015. Boao Forum for Asia is a high-end platform for dialogs on important and influential issues among leaders of national governments, industrial, business and academic sectors worldwide. Bor Hung, Simon and Karen shared with us what they met and learnt.

Opening Reception of IPO Zone

The renovation work of Interdisciplinary Programs Office (IPO) area has been finished! To celebrate the launching of the brand new IPO Zone, an Opening Reception was held on 17 April 2015 at IPO Learning Commons A. Over 80 guests including IPO students, faculty and staff members from IPO, other Schools and Departments joined the Reception.

Symposium on Risk Management and Business Intelligence 2015

Symposium on Risk Management and Business Intelligence 2015 gathered over 200 students, scholars and industry leaders at HKUST on 21 March 2015. Speakers from banking and investment sector, IT industry, university and alumni shared their views on topics of the newly established Hong Kong-Shanghai Stock Connect, implementation of Basel III, credit risk management and also effective analysis and utilization of Big Data.

Google "Solve for X" Competition 2014/15

Collaborated by Google and HKUST, a joint Competition "Solve For X 2014 / 15" was established in fall 2014 for promoting students and faculty across disciplines and schools to engage in intellectual and research discussions. It received 14 projects from teams consisted of faculty, alumni and students. The winning entry has become China’s first project being accepted by Google on its Solve For X platform.
