科大及中大合作研究新空氣質素指標

環保署委託科大及中大檢討過時的空氣污染指數API,並成功研發新一套「空氣質素健康指數」(AQHI),實時公佈最近3小時4種主要空氣污染物的平均濃度,並透過11級機制展示不同指數的空氣污染對健康影響,比現時環保署的空氣污染指數(API)更可靠。

"It's the best summer ever!" - Technology and Management International Business Plan Competition 2012

A group of 33 elite students from Dual Degree Program in Technology and Management, HKUST, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (UIUC) and the University of Sao Paulo (USP) gathered in Hong Kong SAR and China’s Guangdong Province this August, and spent an exciting and fulfilling summer, participating in the “Technology and Management International Business Plan Competition 2012” with “Six new industries in Hong Kong” as the theme.

Marine Environmental Science Student Wins the First IPO Best Research Award

The Interdisciplinary Programs Office (IPO) announced Mr Rulong Liu (fourth-year PhD student of Marine Environmental Science program) as the First Prize recipient of the IPO Best Research Award 2011/12 in the award ceremony held on 9 May 2012.

Malaysia RE Field Trip

The trip was for understanding the sale of Malaysia's natural resources, challenges for sustainability and environmental resources management in Malaysia, especially in Kuala Lumpur. The trip presented students with opportunities to discuss with experts on issues concerning biodiversity, ecosystem management, forest management, waste management, pollution, biomass and biofuels. As a bonus, students also got to enjoy some of Malaysia's natural beauty, culture and mingle with students of The National University Of Malaysia and Malaysians.

劉培生教授、陳澤強教授 「土製」空氣監測器助中學進行環境教育

有見本港中學生參與及認識空氣質素的渠道十分有限,中學難以負擔費用高昂的技術及儀器,科大環境學部遂透過優質教育基金資助,特別發起名為Explore and Research the Atmospheric Environment(EXPLORE)探索大氣環境的二年先導計劃,與本港十間中學合作,讓中學生在其校園內裝置自製價廉的監測器。該監測器乃科大化學工程系學生的畢業作業,成本低廉,雖然監測結果有約10%至20%的誤差,但足夠中學生學習之用。
