2014 IPO Majors Week

2014 IPO Majors Week will be held on 24 -28 Feb 2015 for introducing interdisciplinary undergraduate programs offered by IPO. IPO staff and current IPO students will answer your enquiries and share their experience with you at the booths. Field Trip to Tokyo 2014

The trip was mainly exploring the energy, waste management and resource recycling in Japan. Students visited a number of industrial and public organizations, including advanced automobile and consumer product manufacturers, and waste processing and resource recycling facilities. They also saw the utilization of green energy and energy-saving technology to promote energy efficiency, waste minimization and recycling of resources, as well as safer and greener methods of handling waste. It was a great opportunity to see how green technologies and practices are being adopted and implemented across various sectors to promote green living in Japan.

冬營遊 - Winter Camp 2013/14

The camp consisted of three major components: a food recycling experiential workshop, field trips, and a discussion session about the relationship between development and the environment. After the winter camp, the students gained a deeper understanding about current environmental issues affecting Hong Kong. It is hoped that students will be able to apply what they have learned in their everyday life and start making positive changes to the environment.

Technology and Management International Business Plan Competition 2014 in Bayreuth, Germany

12 Dual Degree Program in Technology & Management students traveled to Bayreuth, Germany to join students from University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (UIUC), University of Bayreuth and University of Sao Paulo, Brazil to formed mixed teams and conduct technology research and market analysis to develop viable business plans for automotive industry under the mentorship of faculty from the four universities within the 10-day trip from 5 to 15 January 2014.

HKUST Receives HK$5 million Donation from Dr Simon Kwok and Dr Eleanor Kwok To support Interdisplinary Engineering and Medicine Research on Endoluminal Medical Devices

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) received a five-million-dollar donation from Dr Simon Kwok and Dr Eleanor Kwok for the development of bio-devices for treatment of endoluminal diseases. These groundbreaking inventions, developed with an aim to improving stroke treatments, are the fruits of close collaboration between leading neurosurgeons and the engineering faculty at HKUST. The research team comprises Dr. John Kwok of the Division of Biomedical Engineering and Prof. David Lam and Prof. Matthew Yuen of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
