6 IPO students were selected from 300 applicants for the “Future Leaders in Finance" 2017 Summer Internship Program organized by the Y Society.  The Kick-Off Ceremony was held successfully at the China Construction Bank at Central on 5th June 2017.

With the mission of nurturing future talents for the finance industry, the Y Society has organised its first Summer Internship Program since 2015.  This year, 300 applications were received from the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. After rigorous review, 60 local elites have been selected to participate in the summer internship. Among those, 25 students are from HKUST and 6 are from the Risk Management and Business Intelligence Program (RMBI) and Environmental Management and Technology Program (EVMT) of the Interdisciplinary Programs Office (IPO).

During the internship, students will join a seven-week summer internship in top financial institutions in Beijing, including CITIC Group Corporation, CITIC Securities Co., Ltd., CSC Financial Co., Ltd., China Investment Corporation, Khazanah Nasional Berhad and Silk Road Fund Co. Ltd.  Through the teaching and guidance of the participating financial institutions, students will understand better the financial system, economy, corporate culture and the society in the Mainland, so as to lay a solid foundation for their future career development.  In addition, students will be engaged in a one-year mentorship to learn from professional practitioners, inspirational talks by leaders in the financial industry and visits to successful corporations.

The awardees departed for Beijing on 14th June 2017. We wish them all the best and look forward to their happy return and sharing of their fruitful experience and fun life in Beijing.
